Barratt Ministries started to support Frank and Louise (Stella) Musoke in 2004, when they bought 0.22 Acres of land to build an orphanage to care for AIDS orphans. The number of orphans that Frank and his wife Louise care for is between 12 and 15 at any one time. In February 2005 Barratt Ministries Uganda was registered as a non-governmental organisation to carry out its activities in the field; caring for orphans, disadvantaged children and sponsoring their education. The funds for the orphans have been raised through our brochures. The progress has been slow, but we have built the foundations and erected the walls up to roof level. In February 2009, a donation of £6,500 was made by a newly-wed couple towards the building costs of the orphanage and this enabled us to complete the roof. We are now raising funds for a floor, windows, and interior decoration. Frank is hoping that the orphanage will eventually become self-funded as the children will receive vocational training. Frank and Louise have raised enough funds to purchase chickens which have been laying eggs since May 2009. This means that they will have some source of income through selling those eggs to provide for the needs of the orphans, as well as food for themselves.
